What is Occupational Rehabilitation?

Occupational Rehabilitation is the process of assisting a worker’s return to work and life following injury or illness. Occupational Rehabilitation organisations also provide preventative and educational services to workers and employers about the health benefits of good work and how to manage injury and disability in the workplace.

Rehabilitation Consultants are health professionals that play a critical role in delivering Occupational Rehabilitation services, including the provision of assessment, case management, counselling and other service provisions to support injured clients to achieve their recovery and return to work goals.

Rehabilitation Consultants work in multidisciplinary allied health teams and use their clinical knowledge and reasoning in a non-clinical setting to advise and advocate a client’s treatment across multiple stakeholders, to achieve the best outcomes.

Got a question?

The average wage in Australia is 30% above the world average, and weekly earnings for allied health professionals, are significantly higher again, so you can expect a comfortable salary that provides you with financial stability. Your individual pay will be dependent on the years of experience you have and the role you’re applying for. In addition to your salary, in Australia your employer also provides you with ‘superannuation’, ‘super’ for short.  This is currently 10.5% on top of your salary that is put into a pension fund. By joining Kairros you will also have access to our employee benefits package, which includes paid parental leave, car allowance, salary sacrificing (tax benefits), financial incentives program and much more!

Depending on your circumstances we will provide comprehensive travel or relocation assistance, in addition to financial support to help you get settled in your new location or make your travel dreams a reality! If you have a family, we will cover expenses as part of a family package. The level of assistance that you will receive will be confirmed individually by our international support team.

Qualified health professionals are in huge demand in Australia and there are a number of visa options available depending on whether you’re planning a temporary or permanent stay. Our parent company, MedHealth, is an accredited sponsor for international candidates wanting to apply for the Temporary Skills Shortage Visa, subclass 482, this visa provides a 2 or 4 year working visa, and if you’re eligible the opportunity to apply for permanent residency. Depending on your circumstances we also can accept candidates on the Working Holiday Visa, subclass 417. To discuss your visa options further we recommend submitting your details and our international support team will be in contact.

To work as an allied health professional or Rehabilitation Consultant in Australia you will need to get your qualifications and experience accredited. Depending on your degree discipline you will need to get accreditation through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), the Rehabilitation Counselling Association of Australasia (RCAA) or the Australian Society of Rehabilitation Counsellors (ASORC). The process may have a number of steps depending on your discipline, our international support team will guide and assist you through this accreditation process, and answer any of your questions.

Our teams are located predominantly in Sydney and Perth, however we have smaller teams located in regional New South Wales, Queensland and Canberra. Our international support team can help find opportunities that match your destination preference or discuss desirable locations you might not have considered yet!
