On Tuesday evening, Jennifer Sy, KIS Manager, welcomed over 90 participants to a webinar themed ‘Understanding Workers’ Compensation: A Guide for Interpreters’.
Speaking before the webinar, Jennifer explained:
‘It goes without saying that our interpreters are a pivotal component in many people’s rehabilitation journey, particularly those from culturally diverse backgrounds. Their involvement often signals the point at which an injured person can finally communicate openly and freely with their medical team, and access a wider or more culturally appropriate range of supports.
However, the systems in place across different states can vary widely. One of the markers of KIS is that our interpreters have a working understanding of the workers’ compensation system. Unlocking those state-by-state differences can provide an interpreter the edge in supporting our clients to achieve an exceptional outcome.’
Jennifer was joined by Kairros’ General Manager, Liz Bleasdale, who drew on over 20 years’ experience in the industry to explain the operation of different systems across Australia, the types of assessments and appointments interpreters may be involved in, and the Kairros service delivery model and why collaboration with interpreters is so impactful for injured workers.
The webinar received glowing feedback, with participants reporting that they found the session comprehensive and informative.
